–> DEUTSCHE VERSION

Liebe Fußballerinnen und Fußballer, liebe Deutschschülerinnen und Deutschschüler, liebe Lehrerinnen und Lehrer

even if you don’t speak German you can tell: this is quite a mouthful! And all it means is: „Dear soccer players, German students and teachers“. But don’t worry. There are quite a few things that make German an easy language to learn. Words like „Ball“, „Stadion“ and „Fußballschuhe“ you’ll understand without having to use a dictionary. Score with German will show you how much fun it is to tackle German if you approach it the right way.

“How hard can it be to speak German? Six-year-olds do it all the time.“ Funny and very true. Learning a language is easy if you start at a young age. And if you can combine learning German with your favorite sport you’re already halfway there. In Germany I took English in high school and I wish such a cool project like Score with German had been around at that time. I also wish I had invested a little more time and energy in learning a foreign language ;-(

But when I was 15, I was already spending many hours a day on the soccer field. It was worth it in so many ways: I played for eight years in Germany’s top league, the “Bundesliga”. I had a great time playing for Bayern Munich and was on Germany’s national team. But there was also something I was missing during that time. Obviously, soccer was very important to me, but I noticed that I didn’t have enough time for other important things, like studying…

Now after the end of my playing career I’m enrolled at a German university. I love working with kids and hope soon to be able to work as a school teacher. I also hope that in the near future I’ll find the time to participate in a Score with German camp as instructor and coach. And then I’ll be able to welcome you all personally – in German!

Have fun with Score with German and see you soon!
